Look at my socks!

I am sorry this is our last look at the socks folks are wearing but it is getting warmer and spring is showing up all over.

These are some of the earliest socks I made.  The yarn color is Denim and Leather which I purchased from a shop on ETSY.  I can't remember the name of the shop thought.  They are soft socks and a look  little shiny.  I think there is some silk in this yarn.

Design Wall Monday

I have been visiting my brother and his wife in Florida this week.  I have done some knitting but no sewing.  However, my SIL has been sewing and I have been advising!  My SIL is a beginning quilter and we did lots of sewing when they visited us last November.

She wanted to do a rail fence table topper in blue fabrics.  We visited the local Joann's in Eustis, Florida and picked out 4 fabrics to work with.

The blocks are made and a few have been sewn together.

Sunday stash report

No news here-nothing in or out-at least on the day I'm completing this report.  However, I am on my way to Florida to visit my SIL and her friend.  My SIL is a beginning quilter and I posted some of her projects a few months ago when she visited us here in Arizona.  I know that there will be sewing and shopping.  I will just have to report those changes next week.

I wanted to show off my completed Mystery Quilt, Glint.  I participate in MysteryQuilts4Military, a yahoo group, that makes quilts for donation to our service personnel and veterans.  I have completed 3 mystery quilts with this group and this one is my favorite.  I have shown photos of the top before but now it is completed.

It was a little more work to cut all those pieces separately, with no short cuts since I did this almost totally from scraps.  The red is a constant and the blue in the border was also a constant.  The remainder  is quite scrappy.  I have a BIG box of red/white/blue fabric and barely made a dent in it.

Isn't this quilting awesome?  My friend, Sharon, a longarm quilter, did a very special job for this donation to Quilts of Valor.

Recently off the needles

Ta Da!  My latest finish, a pair of socks using my favorite pattern, Simple Skyp free from Ravelry.  This is an Opal yarn that I purchased as part of the Socktober Challenge.

Here is the yarn for my next set of socks.  They will be a thank you gift for a friend we stayed with in September when we visited Seattle.

Design Wall Monday

I am again working on a UFO which I think if at least 6 years old.  I have all the smaller parts made.  Now I am working on making blocks.  It is totally scrappy, including the lights which mostly look the same in this photo.  This should make a good size lap quilt for my Sister-in-law.

I hope to have the blocks made and ready to be turned into a top by quilt retreat time in early March.  I am soooooo looking forward to this retreat.

Sunday stash report

I made some 12 1/2" squares to send to Alycia for her block drive for Quilts of Valor.  There is still time to submit some blocks and maybe win some fabric (and add to your stash).  Check it out here:

I also backed a QOV and bound it.  I will post photos of the finished quilt shortly.

I am having an awesome beginning to stash busting-I hope I can maintain the out flow.

Show your socks

I have quite a collection of "special" socks-lots with turtles, souvenir socks from trips, holiday socks and socks that were gifts.  Here is a cute pair with turtles.

I don't get much use out of my "store bought" socks since I started knitting my own but I wanted to show these to you.

We are lucky to have several types of citrus trees on our property.  Here is my husband risking a fall to get navel oranges for our company and to give to friends.

Thnkas to Judy L for sponsoring all these link-ups.
