This is my first design wall post and it is also my UFO to complete for January.
These 2 small wall hangings are from Martha Thompson's book, Square Dance. The smaller (top photo) is the left over pieces from the larger top. I am going to hand quilt both of these and maybe add some beading. I had the small one layered and in my small hoop when I discovered I did not have my quilting needles with me in the RV. They are packed away in a box in storage. I made a quick trip to Michaels for new needles. I'll get started tomorrow.

I love the colors and the name Square Dance. ....these look a little complicated to make!
ReplyDeletePeggy,
ReplyDeleteThis was actually very easy. The directions in the book are easy to follow. You start with a grid of mutliple squares; I used 6 squares by 6. Then you add the borders. Using a template traced from the book, you then cut out squares. Sew these together. Add another border. Using another template you cut and assemble. Then you can assemble the leftover pieces to get the second top. This may sound confusing but it is really simple. Maybe your library has this book?

That does look complicated. It looks like they are shaped pieces. Very pretty! And to think you did two of them.
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt. It does look intricate. I am always impressed with this type of piecing.
ReplyDeleteANd thanks for stopping by my space and commenting on my Junk quilt. This is one quilt I am actually looking forward to quilting! LOL.
